Edisto fishes differently than the open Carolina coast — the ACE Basin influence means cleaner water in the creeks and sound on incoming tides, which drives almost everything here. Spring and fall are prime, when striped bass push into the creeks and sound edges on baitfish, and weakfish ghost the deeper channel cuts at dawn. Bluefish show hard in late spring and stay aggressive through summer. Fluke set up in the surf gutters and sound mouth in warmer months, while tautog and black sea bass hold on any hard structure through the cooler months. Kingfish work the sandy surf troughs from late spring into fall.

Fish the first two hours of incoming tide hard, especially where creek mouths dump into the Edisto Sound — that moving water concentrates everything. For stripers and weakfish, slow-roll soft plastics or live finger mullet tight to the marsh grass edges. Fluke want a bucktail tipped with a Gulp or a strip bait dragged slowly across sandy bottom transitions. Bluefish and kings take cut mullet or spoons worked fast in the surf gutters, particularly after northeast winds push bait along the beach. Once water temps drop below sixty, shift focus to structure for tautog — fiddler crabs fished on the bottom near oyster beds produce best.
