Norris Lake is a deep, clear TVA reservoir with dramatic bluffs, long tapering points, and creek arms that draw serious anglers after a diverse mix of species. Smallmouth bass are the standout pursuit here, thriving in the cold, rocky structure the lake does so well, while largemouth concentrate more in the shallower, stained water back in the creek arms. Walleye and chain pickerel are underrated targets, especially during spring when they push into the creek mouths. Rainbow and brown trout hold in the deeper, cooler main lake sections and near tailwater influence. Catfish and panfish round out the fishery and stay active well into fall.

During cold water, smallmouth stack on steep bluff ends and main-lake points in 20 to 40 feet — drop-shot rigs with finesse worms and blade baits fished slowly are hard to beat. As water temps climb into the mid-50s, walleye and pickerel move shallow into creek flats; twitch suspending jerkbaits or slow-roll swimbaits along transition edges. Largemouth bury into wood and laydowns in the upper creek arms when the lake stratifies in summer, so flip heavy cover with creature baits or punch mats where they exist. Watch the thermocline in summer — bass and trout suspend predictably where oxygen and temperature meet.
