Calcasieu Lake is a brackish estuary on Louisiana's Gulf Coast, and honestly, the species mix you listed leans more toward Northeast Atlantic waters than what swims here. Redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and sheepshead are the bread-and-butter targets on this lake. That said, here is how the fishing moves through the year: spring pushes speckled trout onto the shallow grassy flats as water warms into the mid-60s, summer concentrates redfish in the marsh pockets and along the ICW banks, fall triggers aggressive feeding across the whole system as baitfish schools up ahead of cooling fronts, and winter finds both reds and trout stacked in deeper shell-bottom holes near the ship channel.

For tactics, work moving tides hard, especially the first two hours of an incoming tide over grass flats in the northern end of the lake. Popping corks with live shrimp or a soft plastic paddle tail under them consistently produce specks. Redfish respond well to weedless gold spoons and chunky soft plastics worked slow along marsh edges. At the jetties, live mullet and cut crab draw sheepshead and big flounder. Dirty water pushes fish tighter to structure, so downsize your presentation and slow down. Water temperatures dropping below 50 degrees moves fish deep, so shift to the channel ledges and drag jigs along the bottom.
