Lake Mohave runs long and canyon-cut between Hoover and Davis Dams, and that Colorado River corridor character shapes everything about the fishing. Striped bass are the main draw and they run in schools that shift dramatically with season — pushed shallow and surface-feeding in summer mornings, then suspending deep in the canyon midsection once heat locks in. Largemouth hold tighter to structure year-round and tend to stack in the warmer coves along the Nevada and Arizona shorelines. Rainbow and brown trout thrive in the cold, clear water near the Hoover Dam end, where deeper temperatures suit them best in warm months and they move shallower as water cools in fall and winter.

For stripers, watch for surface schooling activity at dawn and run topwater plugs or swimbaits when you find it — when they go deep, drop heavy jigging spoons vertically over the main channel. Largemouth respond well to soft plastics and crankbaits worked along rocky points, submerged ledges, and any chunk of shade-producing structure.
