Kenosha sits on a stretch of Lake Michigan where the lake's open water meets nearshore structure, and the fishery shifts dramatically through the seasons. Spring through early summer, Chinook and coho salmon stage offshore while lake trout and brown trout cruise the shallower nearshore zones, often within casting distance of the piers and breakwaters. Smallmouth bass own the rocky structure through summer and into fall, while panfish like yellow perch hold in deeper basin areas seasonally. Walleye show up in the nearshore mix but are secondary here compared to true inland waters.
